Turn reviews into wiki's and allow user-created content (i.e. screenshots, press links, etc)
I think a major element missing out of this cool idea is the ability for the users to contribute to the content. Sure, application owners have the ultimate authority. But the value of this service can be vastly increased through the contribution of the users.
It's a lot like Yelp! has done for real-world locations. Let us upload screenshots, submit links to articles, etc.
Also, let us rate the user reviews - based on helpfulness, or quality, or something. As this becomes more popular, quality management is a must. Kind of like what iTunes has done for album reviews.

We totally agree with you on wanting our community to be able to vote reviews up and down on quality – it’s in the product roadmap.
And I personally crush on the “trending topics” wikis that Brizzly has, so I’d love to try something like that on parts of the site.
We will take a look at implementing your idea of everyone submitting content and letting the developer (or admin when there is no developer yet) curate it. We want to get as much information in front of the people making decisions about what tools they need, and this sounds like a compelling way to do that.
Thanks kindly for taking the time to share this, and welcome to oneforty!

Improve search relevance
I searched on "power twitter". I would expect Power Twitter to be the first result. I think it was sixth.

Allow sorting of search results
Search results should be sortable by name, rating, platform ... right now they just come back in what looks like the order in which they were added to the db.
Filtering on things like platform, cost, ... whould be kind of nice too.22 votes -
More than 1 app owner
I'm missing the possibility to have more than 1 person claiming ownership (or responsibility). An app can be the work of 1 person or the work of a team (startups, for instance). Or that a startup/company could claim the ownership with its name.

What will you be charging for?
I read in your Terms of Service about charges for the the use of OneForty but it's not clear how this is implemented. Are developers charged to have their apps listed or ranked as most popular?
Some transparency would help OneForty have more credibility. Who is paying & what are they getting in exchange?

Thanks for taking the time to bring this up – we are striving to be incredibly transparent. We will NEVER charge for ranking or listing. Popularity is strictly mathematical and featured apps are at our editorial discretion. Listing will always be free. If it wasn’t we would fail our community by excluding stuff that could be really good for them.
As the FAQ lays out, once apps are sold in the marketplace, there will be a typical revenue share. We already have affiliate revenues through certain referral links (iTunes, amazon, etc.)
Someday we expect to offer paid placements and/or other advertising on the site but it will be CLEARLY MARKED as such.
If we ever pushed the “more profitable” apps on our users at the expense of being genuinely useful to the community, we’re not doing our jobs! :-)
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to clarify this.

Make public how often people clicked "Try It"
You should show the counts of how many people have clicked Try It.

Support to add multiple developers
Most of the open source programs created are having more than one developer. So could you please add support to add more than one developer in the application page? Thanks.

Remove applications and entries which aren't Twitter related at all.
There seem to be many entries that are being submitted to oneforty that are getting approved, but these applications or sites have no relevance to Twitter whatsoever. An example: http://wefeelfine.org There are several other sites. This is definitely going to be a great directory, but users shouldn't have to flag inappropriate entries if oneforty is actively checking these sites prior to listing them. I know we waited a day or two before we got listed. So how are so many non-Twitter app entries getting through?

Allow us to browse apps.
I like the fact that we can search for our favorite apps, but let us browse them as well. Maybe in alphabetical order, or by catagory. Right now we can ONLY search or see the top so many apps. We really need to be able to browse them.

we’re working hard on additional ways to browse items aside from Most Popular, Essentials (and the subtypes of essential apps), browse by category, browse by platform and search.
thanks for the suggestions and we’ll consider them as we continue to roll out new ways to slice the database.

Image upload page should have more info
ie, http://oneforty.com/item/track-daily-goals/screen_shots
Should help out the user by specifying
- Types of image files accepted (png, jpg, gif...)
- Maximum image dimensions
- Maximum image size4 votes -
Bar apps from bribing users for good reviews.
Some apps are promising extra services for good reviews. That would seem an unfair practice as it stuffs the ballot box and punishes users who do not do this.

Because we’re aware that social media is highly prone to “campaigning,” we built our “pagerank” algorithm to consider internal AND external factors in determining popularity.
Planned functionality also includes the ability to vote on whether or not reviews were useful. Reviews, tags and applications can also be flagged by anyone at any time.
Finally, each community member’s name is made by their reviews, which appear prominently on their profile page.
We believe the community design will permit the best stuff to rise to the top and will hold the “other” approaches accountable, but we will be watching this very closely.
Thanks for pointing out such an important principle for us all to keep in mind!

Explain the claiming process on the final page of developer sign up
The final page should tell the developer what to do next:
1. How to claim their app
2. How you protect against false claimants
3. How to view the contract they just signed
4. Their responsibility to keep their email address up to date, etc
5. Key dates upcoming (during this beta period, e.g. if you have an incentive/gift for those who sign up by X date).4 votes -

we could not agree more! for now this is limited to looking at other apps with the same tags, category or platform. future features include displaying items that are “related” and “people who use this also use…”
thanks for dropping by and for helping us serve you better!

add a "sports" or an "entertainment" category
I have a sports-based application, but am unsure which category to place it in.
There are other sports apps, but they are sprinkled throughout all the other categories.

Show the # of reviews next to the stars in the browse view
The number of people who have used the app and reviewed it makes a huge impact on the value of the ranking. I caught myself thinking "I don't want to trust 5 stars if just 2 people have ranked it." But i can't tell in browse view, and i'm not going to click into every app.
Even before you show how many people have "tried" an app, why don't you include just to the right of the stars in the browse view how many people have reviewed it?
